Tips for a smooth reception

Have Punch and Hors d'oeuvres available for your arriving guests. Remember, you will arrive an hour later than your guests.
Suggested order of Introductions
     Bride's Parents
     Groom's Parents
     Brides Maids and Groomsmen
Maid of Honor and Best Man
     Flower Girl and Ring Bearer
     Bride and Groom
Where do you want your wedding party to go after Introductions? To their seats, in front of the head table, or to the dance floor.
Select music for the wedding party entrance and special music for the introduction of the Bride & Groom.
Designate someone to lead the Grace or Blessing
What type of Music to play during Meal? Soft Instrumentals or Love songs.
Select a special song for your First Dance. Normally the bride and groom dance this song exclusively, but some newlyweds would rather have everyone join them after a specific length of time. You may wish to have the bridesmaids and groomsmen form a line along one edge of the dance floor or have them form a semi-circle around the newlyweds for prettier photos .
Select songs for the parent dances. You may wish to combine the Father/Daughter and the Mother/Son dances to save time.
If you elect to have a Money Dance, have it early in the reception.... before the Toast & Cake cutting.
The DJ has time for 30-40 songs during the reception. He can select these songs for you, but if you have a special song that you want played please notify your DJ of these songs.
The Toast can be given at the head table or around the cake table. Will the toast be a Champagne or casual toast? For a Champagne toast the caterer needs about 15 minutes to pour. If a casual toast is given, your quests will use whatever they have available. The Best Man should be prepared to give the first toast. You may want to allow time for other guests to say something to the newlyweds. This is the perfect time for fathers, mothers, or friends to wish the couple well. After all toasts have been made, the newlyweds may wish to thank their guests for sharing their special day.
Select background music for the cake cutting. You may wish to line the bridesmaids and groomsmen behind the cake table for prettier photos.
Select background music for the Bouquet toss. The photographer will suggest the direction of toss.
Select background music for the Garter removal. Again the photographer will suggest the direction for best photos.
Select background music for the Garter toss. Again the photographer will suggest the direction for best photos.
It is recommended to have the Toast, Cake cutting, Bouquet and Garter activities done consecutively. Some guests may leave after these activities are completed. Your remaining guests will be close friends and family. Schedule these activities prior to any time limits imposed by photographers.
The DJ resumes up-tempo & Love songs.
Select the song for the newlyweds last dance of the evening. Usually a slow song.
Will the newlyweds need to change clothes prior to departure. If so they should change about 30 minutes before the Last Dance.  Let the DJ know where the birdseed or bubbles are located so he can announce to your guests to collect on their way outside.
